Parent Resources

Too often we give our children answers to remember rather than problems to solve.      ~ Roger Lewin

KGTC Partnership with SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of Gifted)

“…parents of children with high intellectual potential have a particular need to communicate with other parents of gifted children so that they can share their similar parenting experiences in an understanding manner.  It is also important for them to learn that gifted children have a wide range of abilities and personalities, and there are often no simple answers to some of the dilemmas with their exceptional child.  Parents need information, support, and guidance about gifted children and their characteristics in ways that will allow them to enhance – not thwart – the development of their children’s intellectual and emotional potential.  In short, these parents need resources, along with a special place where they can consider these resources and be encouraged to apply them within their family.  The SENG Model guided discussion groups for parents provides exactly such opportunities for these parents.”  Gifted Parent Groups:  The SENG Model, Devries and Webb, 2007.
